Mt Olive and Billings United Methodist Churches are sister churches, sharing a pastor and his family, as well as many outreach ministries.

Founded in May 1882 as the Methodist Episcopal Church, the name was later changed to the Wesley Methodist Church before becoming known as the Billings Methodist Church and more recently as the Billings United Methodist Church.

Mt. Olive Methodist Episcopal Church begain in 1891 when Rev. Rev. James J. Turrentine moved his wife, five sons and one daughter to Lawrence County from Illinois. The Board of Trustees purchased one acre of land for $20 and the warranty deed stated it was “In trust that said premises shall be used, kept, and maintained as a place of divine worship.”

Bilings and Mt. Olive were united as a circuit in 1957. Except for the period from 1960-1962 we have continued on the same circuit.
